Amador County Museum's Livery Building Fund

For the past 5-years, the Amador County Historical Society has been raising funds to construct a new Livery Building at the Amador County Museum. The existing building that houses the Museum’s early day wagons and carriages is in poor shape and exposed to the elements, allowing the wagons, carriages and heritage artifacts to deteriorate. The new building will become an exciting new attraction at the museum, housing freight and buckboard wagons, carriages and buggies, blacksmithing tools and other historic equipment. The Historical Society has raised approximately 40% of the funds needed to construct the new building, and all donations are greatly appreciated!  Donations can be accepted on-line... look to the top of the right side of this page under "Donate to the Livery Stable Building".

The ACHS Board has developed a plan to build an enclosed livery to house current livery artifacts as well as expected similar donations. This 36 by 100-foot building will also be used for community and museum events.

The current displays of farm wagons and carriages have been housed in an open-faced shed on the museum grounds for many years and this donated history is deteriorating rapidly. They have embarked on a fund drive to raise $500,000. The surveying and engineering have been donated by Toma and Associates and Weatherby, Reynolds and Fritsen.

Prior to the start of construction on the museum site on Church St. in Jackson, the former shed that once housed the replica locomotive will be enclosed for the current displays. Much of the labor for enclosing the shed and constructing the new livery is anticipated to be donated by local contractors and Society members.
